What is Nuime?
Nuime (NUI: Non Visual Use with Intelligence) is a toolkit that works with NVDA, the free and open-source screen reader for Windows.
A GUI that is friendly to AI is a GUI that is friendly to screen readers. That is the idea at the heart of Nuime.
With Nuime you can:
- Let an AI agent operate NVDA on behalf of a screen reader user
- Allow sighted web creators to follow a screen reader session in real time and collaborate with the NVDA user
- Automate accessibility verification using plain-text test scenarios
- Expose NVDA as an MCP server so external AI agents can control it directly
Nuime is commercial software developed and maintained by Shuaruta Inc.
About NVDA
NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) is a free, open-source screen reader for Windows. It enables people to use a computer through keyboard input, synthesized speech, and braille — without relying on the visual display. NVDA is developed and distributed by volunteers worldwide (nvaccess.org).
Nuime works alongside NVDA, using what NVDA speaks — focus position, button labels, and other output — as the basis for operation and verification. NVDA is a separate product. If you plan to use Nuime Desktop, please install NVDA on your Windows PC beforehand.
Products
Nuime Desktop
A Windows desktop application that brings AI-assisted operation, accessibility verification, and automation together in one place — all driven by NVDA's spoken output.
- Chat AI and local LLM for operation guidance and task delegation
- OCR and image recognition for reading and describing screen content
- LM Studio support — runs fully offline, no cloud subscription or API charges required
- WCAG automated testing, targeting WAIC Accessibility Supported test scenarios
- Plain-text scenario RPA with Git-friendly scripts
- Skill system — record and recall command sequences and operating procedures
- MCP server — external AI agents such as Claude Desktop or Cursor can control Nuime directly
Nuime Cloud
(in development)
A cloud service that makes NVDA's remote connection feature enterprise-ready. Planned features include per-tenant subdomain isolation, IP allowlisting, and audit logging. Web creators will be able to observe a screen reader session with real-time AI commentary from their browser or MCP client.
For organizations looking to meet accessibility obligations under the ADA, Section 508, or the European Accessibility Act, Nuime Cloud is designed to serve as the infrastructure for deploying screen reader users as DX and RPA specialists.

Nuime Mobile
(planned)
A mobile app for operating and managing Nuime Desktop remotely.
What Nuime is working toward
Nuime aims for more than removing barriers. The goal is a new kind of working relationship — one in which screen reader users and sighted colleagues, humans and AI, support each other's autonomy.
An NVDA user who has mastered the screen reader is not only someone who receives support. They are an expert and a collaborator. Nuime is the infrastructure that lets that expertise reach the people who need it.
- Collaboration, not delegation
- Making invisible operations visible — broadening understanding
- Creating space for screen reader users to work as accessibility specialists and DX professionals
